The Meta Connect 2022 event had some ground breaking news for fans of Xbox and virtual reality gaming. After introducing plans for the Meta Quest Pro, a high-end VR being positioned to replace your desktop computer, Mark Zuckerberg was joined by Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, to make the announcement about their upcoming partnership.
Although there is no definite timeline set, Quest 2 and Quest Pro users will be able access Xbox Cloud Gaming titles through the Quest Store in the, hopefully, near future. Cloud Gaming requires Game Pass Ultimate to have access and is currently available on multiple platforms including tablets, phones, PCs, and consoles. The partnership with Meta marks the first time that Xbox Cloud Gaming has been available on a standalone wireless virtual reality game system.
Game Pass boasts a rotating catalogue of hundreds of games currently and all of these titles would be available to Quest 2 and Pro users. The titles won’t be available in native VR, yet, but instead will be played on a giant 2D screen inside the VR environment. More exciting, the games won’t require adapting game play to the Quest controllers. An Xbox controller can be connected to the headset via Bluetooth for an easy transition between platforms.
With a long list of current and future Game Pass titles, such as the upcoming ‘A Plague Tale: Requiem’ due out on October 18th, gamers are going to be anxious to hear the announcement of when Cloud Gaming will be available. In the meantime, Meta has announced some other exciting native VR content including Among Us VR and Marvel’s Iron Man VR to keep its users happy.
