BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Thursday, February 8, 2023, an incarcerated woman, 19, was found uninjured and unresponsive by staff in her cell during standard observation and checks, which are conducted every fifteen to forty minutes throughout the Southern Regional Jail Correctional Facility.
When discovered, staff performed life-saving procedures to attempt to revive the inmate and transferred her to Beckley ARH Hospital. Unfortunately, the inmate was pronounced deceased at the hospital on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
No additional information is available as this incident is under investigation by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Criminal Investigation Division and the West Virginia State Police.
