BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Members of the Raleigh County Commission assembled on Tuesday for their first Regular Session meeting for the month of December at which the proposed 2024 Fire Levy saw approval.
The agenda item, presented roughly halfway through the proceedings on Tuesday, saw a motion for approval and passage. This entails a number of changes, including limitations to expenditures and the prohibiting of use for EMS fuel and equipment, as the levy pertain exclusively to the fire department.
As discussed during the session, the levy details indicate the following figures totaling at < 3.5 million in service of over a dozen Raleigh County fire departments.
Class 1- 3.50
Class 2 – 7.06
Class 3 – 14.12
Class 4 – 14.12
Also approved during the session was a new employee for the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department. Effective Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Jillian Butler will come on as Records Clerk for the department following an adjustment to the budget.
This adjustment will allow for the hiring and beginning of pay for the new employee while the department retains an out-of-state employee on the payroll. A motion for the hiring of the new employee was seconded, and the agenda item saw passage through the commission.
