PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 23-year-old Parkersburg man died in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on the entrance ramp to westbound Route 50 from the Juliana Street Bridge.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at approximately 12:12 p.m. Deputies discovered a 1996 Ford Ranger overturned on the hillside off the right-hand side of the entrance ramp.
The driver, identified as Hunter Lee Walker, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the truck exited the roadway while navigating the curve of the ramp.
The vehicle struck the guardrail, re-entered the roadway, then collided with the guardrail a second time.
The impact launched the truck airborne, flipping it over the guardrail before it came to rest on its roof.
The crash scene investigation included witness statements and a review of the vehicle’s path.
Responding agencies included the Parkersburg Police and Fire departments, Camden Clark Ambulance Service, West Virginia Department of Highways, Wood County Coroner’s Office, and Pifer’s Towing and Recovery.
