ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two individuals are facing charges following the seizure of a variety of illegal substances, along with thousands in cash as well as prohibited weaponry.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon, on October 4, 2023, members of the Mountain Region Drug & Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant on a storage unit in Randolph County.
Upon completion of the search warrant’s execution, task force members made their way to the residence of the owner of the storage unit. Task Force members arrived at 10 Stoddard Avenue apt H and engaged an individual identified as  William Brian Durnal, who was confirmed to be the owner of the storage unit.
Task Force members advised Durnal of the search warrant and read him his Miranda rights. After receiving consent to search the premises, a Task Force search yeilded approximately 321 grams of suspected Methamphetamines, 5 grams of suspected Fentanyl, and $4268.00 in US currency were seized.
Upon further investigation it was discovered that a second individual present at the apartment during the interview – identified as Kevin Andrew Lee of Buckhannon – was determined to be involved in the drug activity being investigated.
A search of Lee’s vehicle was conducted after written consent was given. This search yielded approximately $9000 along with an AR 15 firearm.
Lee admitted to authorities that he had conspired with Durnal to hold his illegal drug proceeds and AR pistol to conceal it from law enforcement during the initial search.
Durnal – a convicted felon – is not permitted to possess a firearm. Durnal was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy. Lee was charged with Conspiracy.
The  investigation was conducted by the Mountain Region Drug & Violent Crime task Force with assistance from Deputy T.J. Knotts and Deputy K9 Twix.
