(LOOTPRESS) – According to a recent ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll, two-thirds of Americans, including a majority of Joe Biden‘s supporters, believe that he should step aside as the presumptive nominee for president following his debate performance two weeks ago.
Despite this, Biden’s standing against Donald Trump in terms of voter preferences has not significantly changed since the debate.
Currently, Americans are evenly split between Biden and Trump, with each candidate receiving 46-47 percent of the vote.
If Vice President Kamala Harris were to replace Biden as the Democratic nominee, she would lead Trump by a margin of 49-46 percent among all adults and 49-47 percent among registered voters.
While Harris’ support is slightly higher than Biden’s, the difference is not statistically significant.
The poll also indicates that 67 percent of respondents believe that the President should withdraw from the race, and a growing number (85 percent) feel that he is too old for a second term, up from 81 percent in April and 68 percent just over a year ago.
