CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association faces an urgent situation following a devastating accident this morning.
A U-Haul truck collided with the side of their building, leaving staff scrambling to ensure the safety of the animals housed within.
As the collision occurred, staff members immediately sprang into action, rushing to aid the dogs in the kennels situated on the affected side of the building.
Miraculously, despite the severity of the impact, only one dog sustained an injured leg.
The aftermath of the accident has left the building with significant damage. The U-Haul truck now serves as the sole support for this section of the structure, posing a safety hazard to the dogs sheltered within the kennels.
In a plea for assistance, the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association appeals to the community for immediate foster homes for their animals.
They need as many foster families as possible to come forward.
Due to the hazardous condition of the premises, the shelter is closing its doors to visitors until further notice.
The association has declared a state of emergency, urging individuals who are unable to foster to spread the word and share.
For those willing and able to provide temporary care, they are encouraged to visit Fix Charleston at 1246 Greenbrier St Charleston WV 25311.
Fix Charleston, the low-cost clinic situated in the basement stands ready to assist and support foster families.
