RICHLANDS, VA (LOOTPRESS)– The Blue Tornado Festival scheduled for early August focuses on forgetting about Covid and highlights the Richlands Football Team.
Sponsored by Richlands High School, the festival kicks off on Friday, August 6, at 6:00 pm. The cost is $10 per person, which includes access to vendors and a barbecue plate. The plate includes barbecue, chips, dessert, and a drink.
According to one organizer, Natasha Cooper, this event temporarily replaces the original Blue and White football game the high school hosts every year for Friday night football. The festival also gives the community the opportunity to meet and greet with the football team and two new employees. Richlands High School brings a new head coach for football, Jeff Tarter, and a new principal, Kimberly Ringstaff.
“It’s all about getting everyone from a small town back together and bring back what used to be,” said Cooper.
The football team and cheerleaders organized activities for younger children, including a punting competition and teaching cheer. Richlands High School is also selling merchandise since Covid hindered its sales last year.
The festival is at the Ernie Hicks Stadium in Richlands, VA on Friday, August 6 starting at 6:00 pm.
