MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS)– The trial date for a woman who distributed crack cocaine is continued to August 10.
Police arrested Brenda Chandler of Bluefield back in January 2020 after an audio and video recording caught Chandler selling crack cocaine to an officer for $40.
A grand jury indicted her in February 2021 for five counts of Delivery of a Schedule II Controlled Substance To Wit: Cocaine.
Judge William Sadler presided over the case with Lauren Lynch as the assistant prosecutor. Both lawyers argued over a vital witness who failed to make an appearance.
Lynch argued that contact with the witness was made a day before the trial to make sure that witness was in court today.
“The witness said he would be here yesterday,” said Lynch in court.
“This is what happens when the processes aren’t followed,” said defense attorney for Chandler, Joseph Harvey.
Judge Sadler gave a week to the prosecution to locate the witness. The trial is continued until Tuesday, August 10.
