BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A late-night fight in Mercer County ended with one man hospitalized and another facing felony charges after a violent altercation on Packing Plant Road.
Deputies with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department responded around 11:42 p.m. on June 25 to reports of two men fighting in the roadway. When officers arrived, they found blood on the pavement and a trail leading to a nearby residence.
According to investigators, one man suffered a stab wound to the neck during the confrontation and was rushed to Bluefield Hospital due to significant blood loss. Witnesses told deputies the suspect fled on foot into a residence, which was later found with blood and broken glass scattered inside, suggesting a second altercation had taken place.
Deputies entered the residence under exigent circumstances but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim, covered in blood but conscious, confirmed he had been stabbed but could not identify the weapon.
Authorities say warrants are being sought for malicious assault and brandishing a weapon. The suspect was later arrested and charged.
