BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Bluefield State University is proud to invite alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the community to celebrate Homecoming Week 2025, themed “Where Country Meets Culture.” The celebration begins Sunday, September 28, and runs through Saturday, October 4, bringing together tradition, school pride, and community spirit in a week of festivities.
“Homecoming is one of the most special times of the year at Bluefield State,” said President Dr. Darrin Martin. “With this year’s theme, ‘Where Country Meets Culture,’ we honor the diverse spirit of our Big Blue Family while celebrating the traditions that unite us. We welcome everyone to join us in the festivities.”
The week’s activities culminate Saturday, Oct. 4, with a full day of Homecoming traditions. The celebration begins with the Homecoming Parade at 10 a.m. (lineup at 8:30 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church), following a route along College Avenue to Stadium Drive. Festivities continue at Mitchell Stadium with tailgating at 10 a.m., leading into the highlight of the week, the Homecoming football game against Shaw University, a White Out with kickoff scheduled at 1 p.m. Big Blue soccer will take the field against Virginia State at 5 p.m. at the East River Soccer Complex, and the week will conclude with Kountry Grown at 9 p.m. in the Student Center, admission is $10.
Dr. Deirdre Guyton, director of Alumni Affairs, encouraged Bluefield State graduates to make the trip back to campus and take part in the celebrations. “Homecoming is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends, meet today’s students, and see how Bluefield State continues to grow,” Guyton said. “We want our alumni to fill the parade route, the tailgate, and the stands in a sea of white on game day to show our Big Blue pride.”
There’s no better time than Homecoming to deepen your connection to Bluefield State. Alumni and friends are encouraged to join the Bluefield State University Alumni Association (BSUAA), where membership offers opportunities to reconnect, support today’s students, and carry forward the proud traditions of the Big Blue Family.
