MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County man was arrested Monday afternoon following a reported domestic assault that left a woman injured and a home damaged.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy J.P. Conner responded at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 19, 2026, to a residence on Halls Ridge Road in the Princeton area after Mercer E-911 received a domestic disturbance call.
The victim reported that she and her boyfriend, Adam Carter, were involved in an argument when Carter allegedly slammed her hand in a drawer. She further stated that Carter pushed her against a wall, forced her to the floor, and caused a minor head injury. She also told dispatchers that Carter had locked himself in a bedroom with an axe, a knife, and a baseball bat.
When deputies arrived, the victim was outside the home and had visible injuries, including a red circular mark on her head. Deputies also observed blood on her hand and a broken, bloody fingernail. Photographs were taken of her injuries.
In a recorded statement, the victim said Carter continued to assault her by pushing her onto a bed and attempting to force her out of the bedroom. She stated that while she was trying to remove her belongings, including a large television, Carter pushed the television into her, pinning her against a wall. She also reported that Carter later kicked the television, damaging it. Deputies documented and photographed the damage.
Carter’s grandmother, Barbara Harvey, told deputies she witnessed Carter push the television into the victim’s chest during the argument.
Carter was later found sitting on the back porch steps and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office for processing and then to Southern Regional Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment.
