About the EP
Raleigh County Royalty: The Covers is a four-song tribute honoring the rich musical legacy of southern West Virginia.
The EP features songs made famous by four Raleigh County icons — each inducted into both their respective genre’s Hall of Fame and the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.
From Everett Lilly’s bluegrass standard “Long Journey Home,” to Calvin Simon’s funk classic “Flashlight” with Parliament-Funkadelic, to Little Jimmy Dickens’ joyful country hit “May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose,” and Bill Withers’ timeless “Grandma’s Hands,” this EP is a reminder that some of the most influential music in the world started right here.
Spanning bluegrass, funk, country, and soul, the collection highlights the shared musical roots of the region.
Different sounds. Same soil.
This special 10th Anniversary event is proudly sponsored by El Mariachi.
Again, this show is Free! and open to all ages.
Tell two friends.
Have them tell two friends.
And let’s pack the theatre.
This is more than a show.
It’s a celebration of 10 years — and the place that shaped the music.
