ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Concord University Foundation accepted a $10,000 grant from the Truist West Virginia Foundation on Tuesday, July 14, to support the university’s Pathways Scholarship.
The scholarship is funded through donations raised by the Concord University Foundation and matched by the Maier Foundation of Charleston. It provides financial assistance to rising or current Concord University sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are West Virginia residents facing financial hardships that could otherwise force them to leave school.
“We deeply appreciate Truist’s commitment to Concord University and our students,” said Joshua Cline, executive director of advancement. “This generous gift strengthens the Pathways Scholarship by unlocking matching funds that provide critical financial assistance, helping students remain focused on their education, no matter what detours their lives’ journeys may take along the way.”
This year, the Pathways Scholarship will award $2,000 scholarships to 50 eligible students who apply and are selected.
“For Truist, it’s very personal that we continue our gift to Concord, especially when it’s directed to the Pathways Scholarship. Here at Truist, we’re comprised of local individuals in the community,” Truist Southern West Virginia Market President Jordan Wooldridge said.
“It’s great that we can see on a daily basis, every semester, the impact that it’s making at The Campus Beautiful, and we’re honored that we’re able to continue this gift.”
