RAINELLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Firefighters spent several hours battling a house fire in Rainelle early Saturday morning before returning to the scene twice for rekindles.
According to the Rainelle Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a structure fire on 8th Street at approximately 5:05 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
Rainelle firefighters responded with an engine, tanker and utility vehicle. Crews worked to extinguish the fire until approximately noon.
Officials said the occupants of the residence were already outside when firefighters arrived.
Following the initial response, the department received two additional calls reporting that the fire had rekindled. Firefighters returned to the residence to extinguish hot spots.
Officials asked anyone who sees additional smoke or flames coming from the residence to call 911.
Several agencies and organizations assisted with the response, including Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Quinwood Volunteer Fire Department, Rupert Volunteer Fire Department, Meadow Bridge Fire Department, Danese Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, White Sulphur Springs EMS, Appalachian Power and the American Red Cross.
The Rainelle Fire Department also thanked local utility companies and community members who have donated to assist the affected family.
