FAIRLEA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The State Fair of West Virginia continues its celebration of Mountain Memories on Wednesday, August 14, with a full day of entertainment, exhibits, and activities for all ages.
The gates opened at 8:00 AM, followed by the opening of carnival rides at 11:00 AM, and the West Virginia Lottery building will open at noon.
As part of Dollar Day ($1 admission before 4 PM), sponsored by Can-Am, visitors can enjoy a variety of events throughout the fairgrounds.
Entertainment Highlights:
FirstEnergy Live Wire Demo: 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM
Catherine Hickland: Performances at 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 4:30 PM
Hot Glass Academy: Shows at 10:30 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:30 PM, 4:30 PM, and 6:00 PM
Live Shark Encounter Show: 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 5:00 PM
Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show: 11:30 AM, 2:30 PM, and 6:30 PM
Glen Shelton: Performances at 12:30 PM, 3:30 PM, and 5:30 PM
Butterfly Kingdom: Open all day from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
The Open Horse Show in the Bluegrass Bowl will feature the Draft Halter & Cart class at 9:00 AM and the Draft Carts & Wagons event at 5:00 PM.
Over at the West Virginia Building, cooking demonstrations will be held at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, with an Apple Celebration at 1:00 PM.
The evening will also feature a performance by Jimmy Fortune at 7:00 PM at the Grandstand.
