TUCKER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Tucker County High School teacher is facing charges of sexual abuse and sexual contact with a student following an investigation by West Virginia State Police.
Haden Wamsley, 22, of Hambleton, is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a Tucker County High School student, according to investigators.
The investigation began after the Tucker County Schools superintendent contacted West Virginia State Police on Sept. 4 after receiving an anonymous phone call alleging Wamsley was involved in an “inappropriate relationship” with a student.
According to investigators, Wamsley and the student initially denied the allegations and said the only physical contact between them had been a hug.
The superintendent later told troopers that the Tucker County High School principal had informed her that the student went to the school office to speak with a counselor.
During that conversation, the student told the counselor that she and Wamsley had “made out” a couple of times, according to an official report.
Court documents state the student also told the counselor she was upset because Wamsley had “blocked her” on Sept. 3.
The school counselor made a referral to Child Protective Services. The superintendent had previously submitted a separate CPS referral regarding the allegations.
Wamsley was subsequently charged with sexual abuse and sexual contact with a student.
Wamsley is currently out on bond. The charges are allegations, and Wamsley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
