ASHFORD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two women are facing multiple criminal charges following a domestic dispute in Boone County in which a grandmother was allegedly punched repeatedly in the face, threatened with a gun and had her grandson taken from her home.
According to a criminal complaint, law enforcement responded to a residence on Emmons Road in Ashford on October 13, 2026, at approximately 1:12 p.m. regarding an active domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim visibly shaken and fearful, with bruising and swelling to her left cheek and an apparent eye injury.
The victim told investigators she was sitting inside her home with her juvenile grandson when her daughter-in-law, Gillispie, allegedly forced her way into the residence and demanded her son.
Gillispie reportedly shoved the victim before punching her in the face approximately four to six times with a closed fist.
Following the alleged assault, Gillispie grabbed the child, carried him outside and placed him into a waiting vehicle driven by Mines, according to the complaint.
When the victim followed them outside, Mines allegedly threatened to shoot her, shouting, “I’m going to shoot you, you fucking whore.”

The victim told investigators she was unable to determine whether Mines displayed a firearm during the confrontation due to her injuries and the stress of the incident.
Investigators also spoke with the child’s father, who said he and Gillispie were separated.
According to the complaint, the father reported that Gillispie had placed a firearm to her head and threatened suicide the previous Saturday before fleeing to her mother’s residence in Madison County.
He further stated that Gillispie threatened to take their son on Sunday, causing him to fear for the child’s safety.
Authorities advised the father to obtain a domestic violence protective order for himself and his son, which he subsequently did.
The investigating officer also reported speaking with Gillispie before the incident and instructing her to pursue the legal process of establishing a parenting plan.
During that conversation, Gillispie reportedly acknowledged experiencing a mental health crisis and confirmed placing a firearm to her head following the couple’s separation.
The officer instructed Gillispie to remain in Madison County until she could report to the Boone County Courthouse to begin the legal process of establishing a parenting plan.
Investigators photographed the victim’s injuries and obtained a recorded statement as part of the investigation.
Danielle Gillispie has been charged with burglary, crimes against the elderly and malicious assault, while her mother, Patricia Mines, faces charges of crimes against the elderly and assault.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
