LOGAN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An early morning dispute between a couple in Logan County lands both in jail after strangulation and gunfire took place.
On June 15, 2024, at approximately 2:56 AM, Trooper D.A. Holt and Trooper R.L. Morgan responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Trace Fork Road in Chapmanville, Logan County, West Virginia.
They were informed that the male resident, Jeromey Crum, had been physically assaulting and strangling the female resident, Danielle Crum. The troopers were also advised that Mr. Crum had left the scene in a white pickup truck.
The troopers located and detained Mr. Crum along U.S. 119 near Chapmanville. He claimed that he and Mrs. Crum had gotten into an altercation, during which she had pulled a firearm and fired one shot at his vehicle in the driveway.
Trooper Holt then went to the residence to speak with Mrs. Crum. She stated that the argument had started because Mr. Crum was intoxicated, and it escalated when he pushed her and threatened her, prompting her to retrieve her firearm. She said that Mr. Crum then put his hands around her neck, and she struck him in the head with the gun. Mrs. Crum also confirmed that she had fired a shot at Mr. Crum’s vehicle tire.
Trooper Holt observed the damage to the vehicle and collected a 9mm spent casing from the scene. Both Mr. and Mrs. Crum were then placed under arrest – Mrs. Crum for offenses including wanton endangerment and domestic assault, and Mr. Crum for strangulation and domestic battery. The troopers transported the suspects to the Southwestern Regional Jail to await arraignment.
