Popular tech Youtuber “JayzTwoCents” made a fan’s Christmas this month by giving him an EVGA RTX 3080. This is Nvidia’s brand new Graphics card for computers, which has been notorious in headlines recently for its difficulty to buy due to scalpers, bots, and low product availability, despite being a top graphics card for gaming PCs.
Redditor Nito213 posted on /r/buildapc and /r/PCMasterRace to share his excitement, gaining over 60,000 combined upvotes after one day. He told Reddit that JayzTwoCents asked his fans if anyone could help him get his hands on a PlayStation 5 for his own family’s Christmas, in exchange for the new RTX 3080 (a whopping $300 more in value). His brother made the trade and gifted it to him for Christmas, and even got JayzTwoCents to sign the box!
JayzTwoCents was able to surprise his relatives with the PlayStation 5 he received in exchange for his EVGA RTX 3080. As a tech Youtuber he has easier access to graphics cards through direct contact with hardware companies. He has over 3 million subscribers on his Youtube channel, where he reviews computer hardware and makes PC building guides. This Christmas it looks like everyone wins, and the act of kindness was enjoyed across the gaming and pc building communities.
Both the RTX 3080 and PlayStation 5 have been painstakingly difficult for consumers to get their hands on this holiday season. In a report from Tom’s Hardware, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has revealed that stock may struggle into 2021 for its GPUs. The PlayStation 5 and RTX 3080 are both victims of scalpers and botters, who immediately buy out these items for their own gain.
