CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Due to the National Weather Service issuing a Winter Storm Watch beginning on Sunday morning through Monday morning, the Kanawha County Commission has directed the Kanawha County Emergency Response team to be placed on stand-by beginning at noon on Saturday, January 15.
The Commission issued the following joint statement:
“The National Weather Service has predicted heavy snow with accumulations of from four to seven inches that could make travel hazardous and potentially impassible as freezing rain
could occur prior to the snow. Our team will be monitoring weather updates and releasing information to the public as to the potential effects of the storm. All personnel will be prepared to respond for any emergency situations as needed.
“Emergency first responders are already overworked and worn out due. It is important that citizens pay attention to weather alerts and stay off the roads if further alerts are issued during the weather event period.”
