RAINELLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Rainelle Fire Department announced a number of road closures on Monday morning as a result of recent flooding.
High-intensity weather conditions have been a recurring issue throughout the summer of 2022, with frequent flooding throughout Southern West Virginia leading to event cancellations, loss of property, and severe travel issues among other things.
Greenbrier County has been an area which, over the years, has been notably susceptible to flooding and storm related issues.
“Rainelle VFD has crews on station dealing with flooded roadways,” read a statement released from the Rainelle Fire Department. “We currently have 1 crew out surveying roads.
As of 7:00am Monday, three Rainelle areas were experiencing closures. These locations include RT 60 at Alfredo’s and JR & KTPE to Craig Road which each have one lane blocked, and RT 20 at the Golf Course where the full roadway is experiencing closure.
