CLARKSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – According to Chief Waybright with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, police received information regarding a potential school threat involving a senior at Robert C. Byrd high school in Clarksburg.
A preliminary review conducted by the Harrison County Board of Education quickly identified the suspect, Ayden Jedju, 18 of Clarksburg.
Jedju had recently posted several threatening videos to YouTube, threatening school violence. One video entitled, “Death Machine” specifically contains statements that would likely result in serious bodily injury and were intended to intimidate or coerce.
Upon reviewing the content of numerous videos the Sheriff’s Office worked swiftly to obtain search warrants and an arrest warrant charging Jedju with one Felony count of terroristic threats. The Detective Unit also conducted a search of the residence and seized evidence of the crime.
While processing the residence, the suspect’s father, Shaun Jedju, 44 arrived threatened and obstructed law enforcement and was also charged accordingly.
Police say the immediate notification, “See Something, Say Something”, by an alert citizen reduced the possibility of danger to the students and staff which allowed law enforcement to immediately enact safety measures to reduce any immediate danger to students and staff.
Police say this also gave law enforcement the opportunity to quickly launch a thorough investigation into the suspect and build a strong criminal case. Officers believe this is an isolated incident surrounding the suspect who is now in custody.
Police say that they are confident there is no longer a threat stemming from this incident.
