MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS)– The Kimball Police Department will have increased policemen patrols on Memorial Day Weekend.
Police Chief S.P. Pat McKinney announced plans to increase patrols earlier today.
“There is a statewide blitz so we will be joining over 100 agencies,” said McKinney.
McKinney also states that this is happening because this is the first major holiday since the winter so highway accidents might be higher. DUI patrols will also be increased since Memorial Day Weekend is a drinking holiday.
“The injuries and death toll is increased by the lack of seatbelts and the stronger presence of alcohol. We have no tolerance for DUIs,” said McKinney.
Another reason for increased patrols is to help tourists and residents if they need more information or help.
On Tuesday May 25th, police will also have a seatbelt and DUI checkpoint from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm in front of Gary City Hall in Gary, WV. If you would like to avoid traffic take Route 103 and Route 161.
