Alex H. “Spud” Dishner, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at his home. Born March 27, 1934, in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late Louella Dishner Belcher. Spud was a member of the Indian Mills Baptist Church. He worked as a machinist foreman in the Newport News Shipyard, and later at the Phillips Machine Shop in Beckley, WV. After retiring, Spud spent most of his time farming, which he loved.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, John Harrison and Bertha Dishner. Survivors include his wife, Patricia L. Shell Dishner of the home; one daughter, Kathy Dameron and husband Lewis of Christiansburg, VA; one grandson, Anthony Wilson and wife Jenna of Dublin, VA; and two great grandchildren, Auston and Bree Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Barry Harper officiating. Burial will follow at the Indian Mills Cemetery in Indian Mills, WV. Visitation will be from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday, May 7, 2021, at the funeral home.
