BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Appalachian Power crews are scheduled to replace distribution lines and related equipment early Sunday in Beckley as part of a project aimed at increasing electric capacity and improving service reliability.
The work is set to take place from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, weather permitting, at 3413 Robert C. Byrd Drive. Officials said rolling traffic stops may occur during the operation.
According to the utility, the upgrades will include installing larger-capacity lines to strengthen the local power grid.
The improvements are intended to support recently announced businesses and accommodate anticipated commercial growth in the area.
Crews will be working alongside traffic control personnel and local law enforcement during the project.
Motorists traveling on or near the work zone are advised to slow down, follow directions from flaggers and posted signs, and allow extra travel time.
