HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Appalachian Regional Healthcare has announced “Making Health Happen,” a community health screening event now in its second year which will be hosted this week at the Summers County Memorial Building.
Area residents have been invited to participate in the event, which is the result of a partnership between Summers County ARH hospital and South Central Educational Development, Inc., and in collaboration with several entities including Summers County Huddle, UniCare, REACHH, and Wild Wonderful & Healthy Summers County.
ARH Community Development Manager, Kelly Elkins noted that the event offers and opportunity for residents to come together in an effort to serve the community at large.
“It’s so important for health care agencies to work together,” Elkins says. “We all have the same goal at the e3nd of the day, and that is to better the lives and improve the health of the residents of the communities we serve.”
As part of the event, healthcare professionals from Summers County ARH will be available to administer checks of glucose and blood pressure, as well as testing for BMI and stroke screening.
Multiple informational booths will be featured as part of the “Making Health Happen” screening event offering information pertaining to Medicaid, various programs for the youth, and more.
“We’re really looking forward to building on the success of last year’s event and we encourage everyone to come out and take charge of their health,” said Elkins.
“Making Health Happen” will take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Summers County Memorial Building located at 451 1st Avenue in Hinton, West Virginia.
