ARMSTRONG CREEK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Armstrong Creek Fire Department will reopen Thursday, Aug. 27, to continue providing supplies and assistance to residents affected by recent flooding.
The department will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will have water, food, cleaning supplies and other items available.
Fire officials said approximately 1,600 pounds of lime are also available for residents. The lime is currently stored outside in two 800-pound bags and can be accessed at any time.
Those needing lime are asked to bring their own containers and take only what they need. Residents should also recover the bags with the tarp after getting lime. The department said it hopes to receive containers for distributing the lime soon.
A dumpster for flood debris remains available at the fire department at any time. Hazardous liquids are not permitted in the dumpster.
Tires are being accepted but should not be placed inside the dumpster. Instead, residents are asked to leave tires beside the dumpster so they can be collected separately in a trailer.
The fire department has been serving as a distribution point for supplies as the Armstrong Creek community continues cleanup and recovery efforts following flooding in the area.
