MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An arrest has been made following an extensive investigation into a series of commercial burglaries across Mercer County, according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the burglaries occurred between December 2 and December 30, 2025, and targeted multiple businesses in the Bluewell, Bluefield, and Bramwell areas.
Investigators determined that forced entry was used in each incident, with cash and merchandise taken from the businesses. In several cases, deputies said electrical service was intentionally disrupted before entry, cutting off lighting and surveillance systems.
Following coordinated efforts by the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Bureau, deputies identified a suspect believed to be connected to the crimes.
On January 7, 2026, deputies arrested Eli Mahoney, 35, of Brushfork, West Virginia.
Mahoney is charged with three counts of breaking and entering, two counts of grand larceny, one count of attempt to commit a felony, and three felony counts related to the disruption of electrical service.
Investigators believe at least two additional individuals were involved. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further arrests have been announced.
All charges are allegations, and Mahoney is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office or Mercer County 911.
