ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – School officials and law enforcement are investigating a threat made by a student at Elkins Middle School on Thursday, according to a statement from Randolph County Schools.
Superintendent Shawn Dilly assured parents Thursday evening that administrators are working closely with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and local police to address the situation.
“The situation is under thorough investigation, and appropriate actions are being taken in accordance with school policy and law enforcement procedures,” Dilly stated.
Dilly stated that there is no immediate danger to students or staff but remains vigilant in ensuring a secure learning environment.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says they are aware of “concerning screenshots” circulating on social media related to Elkins Middle School.
They say they have identified the individual involved and have conducted a thorough investigation, and that there is no cause for further concern.
Parents and community members are encouraged to report any safety concerns to school officials or law enforcement.
