SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Loss Prevention Department at one West Virginia Walmart Supercenter likely had a busier evening than anticipated when the theft thousands of dollars in merchandise was attempted over the weekend.
According to the Summersville Police Department on Saturday, the SPE received reports of a shoplifting incident at the local Walmart and authorities made their way to the establishment to investigate.
Upon arriving at the scene, Officer C. Groves and Nottingham, along with Trooper Shaffer would be met with the unexpected sight of a small mountain of Walmart products which had been the subject of an apparent attempted theft.
The department, who referred to the perpetrators as “the Baby Formula Bandits,” estimated the value of the product in question to be in the thousands – $4,700, specifically.
Information pertaining particularly to the detainment of the individuals involved – such as identifying details – is scarce at the time of writing, but it has been heavily implied that the shoplifting incident was intended to facilitate the purchase and/or consumption of illicit substances.
Along with responding officers, the Summersville Police Department also issued their gratitude to Walmart’s Loss Prevention team.
