Busy Bee Bakery- a small, independently owned business that will soon take residence in the old Raleigh Center building on Robert C Byrd Drive- has chosen to lend a helping hand to other small businesses by sourcing local merchandise.
Brittany Cline, owner of Busy Bee, expressed her desire to boost the state’s local appeal.
“I am one of those people that wants to help a neighbor. If I can help someone in any way I can, I will. I wanted to support other people and businesses because over the years, no matter what I have done, I have received so much support. I wanted to give that back.”
Recently, Busy Bee Bakery announced its collaboration with Miss Bea’s- a home fragrance, home décor shop out of Beckley.
As part of the collaboration, the bakery will feature and sell Miss Bea’s merchandise, which primarily consists of wax melts.
Myriah Montgomery, owner of Miss Bea’s, expressed her excitement for the partnership and thinks it will be a good opportunity for her new and growing business.
Busy Bee Bakery has also partnered with Mountaineer Roasting Company out of Morgantown. This collaboration has allowed the bakery to sell West Virginia roasted coffee by the cup and by the bag.
Cline says that she has reached out to various local vendors and hopes to set up other partnerships soon that will allow the bakery to feature new products like honey and maple syrup.
Merchandise items currently in stock at the bakery include t-shirts, mugs, tumblers and Miss Bea’s wax melts.
“We wanted to have things that are interesting,” Cline stated. “We are hoping that when someone walks into the bakery it is filled up with cool, local stuff.”
While Busy Bee is trying to source from small businesses as much as possible, Cline says there are some items they will have to get from larger, local retailers.
“We want to have a happy medium, but everything will be local. We are a small community and it’s important to help out your neighbors when you can.”
As for bakery items, Busy Bee Bakery offers custom cakes, desserts and treats, with their most recent additions to the menu being cookie sandwiches and cannolis.
Busy Bee is still putting the final touches on the bakery space but plans to host some form of grand opening in the coming weeks. For more information visit www.busybeebakery-westvirginia.com or Busy Bee Bakery on Facebook.
