BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – For the second year in a row, Books-A-Million (BAM) is holding a book donation drive to support the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia. The drive will specifically benefit residents of the SWV Exceptional Youth Emergency Shetler (EYES) in Daniels.
LaAmay’a Manley, Shelter Supervisor for SWV EYES, says the books will be used to fill the shelter’s library and be given to the children as Christmas gifts.
“It is amazing to have this support from Books-A-Million,” Manley said. “We appreciate it so much. Books aren’t cheap, and the kids here love to read. It is very important that they continue to have different things to read, and they have made that possible.”
At the checkout, BAM is asking customers if they would like to purchase a book to be donated to CHS. BAM is also asking for toys, such as fidget spinners, stuffed animals, etc., to be donated, which Manley says are great for the shelter’s special needs residents. Customer can pick out their favorite book to donate or choose one selected by a BAM employee. Books must be appropriate for children ages seven to 18.
“We just appreciate this very much. The books will go toward good use helping West Virginia kids,” Manley added.
The drive will conclude the week of Christmas, according to a BAM employee.
