BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – During Tuesday night’s council meeting, the Beckley City Council greenlit longevity pay raises for all full-time employees of the City of Beckley.
The resolution, which dictates salary adjustments based on years of service, was discussed and approved on a unanimous vote.
The approved longevity pay raises, effective for the fiscal year spanning July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, vary depending on the employee’s tenure:
Employees completing their first, second, or third anniversary during fiscal year 2024-2025 will receive a 23-cent-per-hour increase, while 24-hour employees will see a 21-cent-per-hour raise.
Those marking their fourth, fifth, or sixth anniversary will enjoy a 26-cent-per-hour increase, with 24-hour employees receiving 24 cents per hour more.
Employees reaching their seventh, eighth, or ninth anniversary will receive a 29-cent-per-hour increase, along with 24-hour employees who will receive an increase of 26 cents per hour.
Employees celebrating their tenth, eleventh, or twelfth anniversary will receive a 33-cent-per-hour increase, with 24-hour employees receiving 29 cents per hour more.
Employees with a thirteenth year or more will benefit from a 35-cent-per-hour increase, and 24-hour employees will receive a 32-cent-per-hour increase.
The raises will take effect upon each employee’s anniversary date.
The resolution does not obligate future councils to maintain these exact amounts.
The estimated total cost is between $220,000 and $240,000 spread over the fiscal year, considering the staggered hiring dates of employees.
