BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beckley City Council members on Tuesday voted for the approval of a one-time pay supplement effective for all full-time employees of the City of Beckley.
Presented as the seventh agenda item for the November 26, 2024, meeting, the resolution applies to the 254 individuals currently employed by the City of Beckley in a full-time capacity.
According to City of Beckley Mayor, Ryan Neal, the supplement would go into effect beginning December 6, 2024. City of Beckley Controller, Jessica Chandler, noted that the supplement had already been taken into consideration by the city with regard to the budget, and that the total cost for the city would be $215,000.
“Currently, we have 254 employees that are full-time and this pay supplement is already budgeted in for this budget year,” explained Chandler during Tuesday’s session. “It will run about $215,000, taxes and all.”
A motion for approval of the resolution was seconded, leading to the approval of the one-time pay supplement. The supplement would not impact individuals currently employed on a part-time basis by the City of Beckley, as has historically been the case.
The meeting also saw approval of an ordinance authorizing the City of Beckley to enter into an agreement with the Raleigh County Commission with regard to the Pinecrest Industrial Park property. The ordinance was presented on its second reading as part of a public hearing regarding the property.
