BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley City Council is set to meet on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers located at 409 S. Kanawha Street.
A number of key community matters are on the agenda, including a proposal that could bring free on-street parking to the downtown area.
During the meeting, council members will consider an ordinance to establish two hours of free on-street parking in downtown Beckley.
In addition to the parking ordinance, the council will review several other new business items.
These include the approval of state contract pricing for new fire department vehicles and cooperative pricing for a new paver to be used by the Board of Public Works.
Also on the agenda is a proclamation recognizing Fair Housing Month, reinforcing the city’s ongoing commitment to equal housing opportunities.
There will be time for public comments toward the end of the meeting. Residents who wish to speak must sign up prior to the meeting and will be allotted three minutes to address the council.
While council members and the mayor will not respond during the session, all remarks will be recorded and reviewed.
The agenda also includes standard business such as the reading and approval of minutes from the previous meeting and brief updates from city officials.

The meeting will open with the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation delivered by Pastor Jason Lowe of Faith Community Church.
