BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Beckley man is facing multiple charges after police say a domestic dispute escalated into threats, physical violence, and unlawful restraint.
According to law enforcement, officers responded to a front office complaint on May 6, 2026, regarding a domestic incident that had reportedly occurred earlier in the day.
Police said the victim told officers she had been involved in an argument with her boyfriend, identified as Keith Hedrick, after he allegedly admitted to spending money she had given him on alcohol instead of other items. The victim reportedly told officers Hedrick had previously attended rehabilitation for alcohol abuse and that the situation intensified after she discovered he had been messaging another woman.
During the argument, the victim said she attempted to leave the residence, but Hedrick allegedly prevented her from doing so. She further reported that Hedrick threatened both her life and his own, allegedly telling her, “If you leave me, I’ll kill you and myself.”
The victim told officers she waited until later in the evening before leaving the apartment and walking to the Beckley Police Department to report the incident.
While speaking with the victim, officers observed bruising on her right arm and left wrist, along with a scratch on her forehead. According to the complaint, the victim stated Hedrick caused the injuries by restraining her, shoving her during a prior altercation, and physically preventing her from leaving the apartment. She also told officers Hedrick allegedly moved a couch in front of the door to block her exit.
Following the investigation, officers located Hedrick at the residence and took him into custody without incident.
Police said a review of Hedrick’s criminal history revealed a previous domestic battery charge in Greenbrier County that was dismissed in September 2025.
Hedrick was charged with Domestic Battery, Domestic Assault, and Unlawful Restraint before being transported to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment.
The incident remains under investigation.
