BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is in jail facing numerous charges after squeezing a baby and refusing police commands.
According to court documents, on February 22, 2021, Beckley Police responded to a disturbance at Ringleben St. Beckley Police responded to this residence previously in the evening for a 911 hang-up call and made contact with the residents, who stated everything was fine. The victim stated the suspect, Treyvaughn Herron, was in the back bedroom with a baby, and she was worried for the baby’s safety. The victim said that the suspect had been acting weird all evening and stated that she thought he might be on something.
Police went to the bedroom and found the suspect holding the baby tightly, squeezing it in such a way that police were concerned for the baby’s safety. Police told the suspect to give the baby to the victim, but the suspect refused. The victim attempted to take the baby from the suspect, and the suspect squeezed the baby harder. The baby was crying loudly. Both police officers could pry the suspect’s hands off the baby and give the bay to the victim. The suspect was agitated and refused verbal commands to place his hands behind his back flailing his arms and striking both officers. One officer ended up on the floor with the suspect on top of him. The other officer fired his taser into the suspect’s back, but it did not cause immobilization. Another officer arrived on the scene and assisted by using pain compliance on the suspect’s ankle, at which time he complied. The suspect was transferred to Southern Regional Jail.
The victim told police that the suspect would not let her watch tv. She stated that he choked her and would not give her the baby. He refused to let her leave with her kids and started to choke the life out of her and pulled her hair.
Treyvaughn Herron is charged with two counts of battery on a police officer, obstructing an officer, strangulation, child abuse creating the risk of injury, and domestic battery.
Herron is being held in Southern Regional Jail under a 50,000 dollar bond.
