BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 911 call made early Sunday morning led to widespread social media speculation about possible deceased children at an apartment complex in Beckley, but police say the report was false.
Around 4:30 a.m., a call recorded on a scanner app suggested that someone had reported deceased children at a local apartment complex.
The audio quickly circulated online, prompting concern and sharing across social media platforms.
In response, the Beckley Police Department issued an official statement:
“The Beckley Police Department is aware of a social media post describing some disturbing information reported to our agency this morning. After a thorough investigation, officers determined that the information reported, and now being circulated was completely unfounded.”
“The call dispatched to our officers, and captured on a scanner app was false. There was no validity to the information reported to 911.”
Police emphasized that the incident did not occur and that the information circulating online was inaccurate.
