FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A birthday celebration in the mountains took a chaotic turn Wednesday night when an out-of-town couple’s camping trip turned into an all-out brawl involving a popped tire, a flying phone, and an air mattress that never saw it coming.
Fayette County deputies responded to Bachman Road after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash and a domestic dispute. What they found was a scene straight out of a reality TV show.
According to Hanna Lin Frauen, the trouble started when she wanted her boyfriend, Kevin Patrick Stone, to sit with her on a rock. But instead of enjoying the view, Stone was glued to his Facebook feed. That’s when Frauen, frustrated with his digital distraction, smacked him. Things escalated quickly—Stone allegedly held her down, chucked her phone into a creek, and tried to leave. Frauen wasn’t having it, though—she reportedly chased him down the road, throwing punches through the car window.
Stone eventually stopped the car, but rather than taking a deep breath and calming down, he allegedly took a knife to the couple’s air mattress, slashed it, and “popped” a tire to prevent Frauen from leaving. Frauen, meanwhile, was convinced Stone had also tossed her car keys into the creek. Deputies later found them in his pocket.
By the time law enforcement arrived, the couple was battered—Stone with a busted eyebrow and Frauen with a busted lip. A concerned passerby had heard someone yelling for help and honking a car horn and later told officers she found a distressed woman claiming her companion had wrecked the car, slashed the tires, and thrown her phone into the water.
Deputies surveyed the scene, finding blood on the driver’s door, a deflated tire, and what remained of the ill-fated air mattress. Determining that both parties were equal participants in the chaos, they arrested Stone and Frauen, charging them with domestic battery.
