BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Bluefield State University is excited to announce registration is now open for its annual Youth Basketball Camps, scheduled for June 23-26, 2025. The camps feature two age-appropriate programs designed for boys and girls in grades K-9 and will be held at the Ned Shott Gymnasium on the university’s campus.
Led by BSU’s coaching staff and current players, the camps focus on developing fundamental basketball skills including shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, and game strategy. Participants will also learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership both on and off the court.
“We’re thrilled to offer young athletes in our community the opportunity to improve their basketball skills while experiencing college-level instruction,” said Coach Paul Davis. “Our camps emphasize not just athletic development, but also character building and having fun while learning the game.”
Camp Details:
- Dates: June 23-26, 2025
- B-State Mini Ballers Camp: Grades K-5, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- B-State Junior Ballers Camp: Grades 6-9, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Location: Ned Shott Gymnasium, Bluefield State University
- Cost: $75 per camper (includes camp t-shirt and daily snacks)
- Registration Deadline: June 15, 2025
Each day will feature fun skills and drills, mini competitions and games, and activities focused on teamwork and sportsmanship. Campers will receive individual instruction from BSU coaches and players, with age-appropriate programming designed to keep young athletes engaged and excited about basketball. Special highlights include an autograph session with current B-State players and the opportunity to meet Sir Blue, the university’s beloved mascot.
The camps conclude with mini tournaments and a celebration ceremony where participants can showcase their newly developed skills for family and friends while receiving recognition for their hard work and improvement.
“Basketball is a great vehicle for teaching life lessons,” added Coach Davis. “Through our camps, we hope to create a positive environment where young people can learn fundamental skills, make new friends, and develop a lifelong love for the game.”
