RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A boil water notice has been issued for customers in the South Sandbranch area after a water main line break, according to the Raleigh County Public Service District.
The notice was issued Monday, July 6, after a water problem created a high probability that the water could be contaminated. While testing has not yet been conducted to confirm or rule out contamination, customers are being advised to boil all water before using it.
Residents should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute and allow it to cool before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing, or preparing food. Bottled water may also be used until the notice is lifted.
The Raleigh County Public Service District said the boil water notice is the result of a Beckley water main line break. The notice will remain in effect until the utility determines the water is safe to use.
Officials said they expect to resolve the issue as soon as possible and will notify customers when boiling water is no longer necessary.
