BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A trespassing call in Boone County on August 3, 2025, ended with a foot chase, a Taser deployment, and a struggle before deputies could arrest the suspect.
According to authorities, deputies responded to Doddson Fork Road around 7:57 a.m. after a woman reported that a man, later identified as Johnathan Elswick, was on her porch acting erratically, talking to himself, and pointing at things that weren’t there. She told deputies she repeatedly asked him to leave, but he refused, leaving only moments before law enforcement arrived.
Deputies spotted Elswick nearby, but he allegedly ignored commands to stop and ran. A deputy deployed a Taser, which slowed him but did not fully incapacitate him. Officials say Elswick continued to resist arrest, elbowing the deputy in the chest before being subdued and handcuffed after a struggle.
Elswick later admitted to being under the influence of methamphetamine, police said. He was medically cleared at Boone Memorial Hospital before being taken into custody.
