BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic dispute inside a Beckley apartment left both parties injured and facing criminal charges after police responded to an open 911 call and discovered a blood-covered scene.
Officers with the Beckley Police Department responded to an apartment on May 12, 2026, after receiving a report of an open 911 line with yelling heard in the background.
Upon arriving, officers reported hearing a disturbance from inside the residence. When police announced their presence, a woman identified as Amber Lowe came to the door and allegedly claimed no one else was inside the apartment. Officers said Lowe attempted to walk back into the residence after being instructed to step outside and was detained.
Police observed Lowe covered in blood and suffering from a laceration on her elbow. Officers then located a man, identified as Demar Allen, inside the apartment with a severe laceration to his left hand and significant blood loss.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and treated both individuals.
According to investigators, Lowe told officers the argument stemmed from a dispute involving a dog and allegations that Allen had taken inappropriate photographs of her daughter. Lowe alleged Allen struck her in the face during the confrontation. Officers documented injuries that included a cut finger, a laceration to her elbow, a bruise on her head, and clumps of hair that had reportedly been pulled out.
Police said Lowe admitted she turned around and cut Allen during the altercation. Officers recovered a knife believed to have been used in the incident.
Allen told officers the injury occurred accidentally while Lowe was cooking and that she turned around and cut him. When questioned about the allegations involving photographs, Allen reportedly told officers the images were “just pornography.”
Due to the allegations regarding the contents of cell phones, officers seized two phones from the apartment as evidence and notified detectives for further investigation.
A review of criminal history records showed Allen had a prior domestic battery conviction in Fayette County in 2017, while Lowe had a prior conviction in Wyoming County in 2019.
Police said warrants will be sought charging Lowe with unlawful assault and second-offense domestic battery. Allen will also face a charge of second-offense domestic battery.
The investigation remains ongoing, particularly regarding the allegations involving the electronic devices.
The incident occurred within the city limits of Beckley in Raleigh County.
