BURNSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The town of Burnsville is asking for donations to assist in spaying and neutering cats as they are currently using the town park as a litter box.
The cats have been using the park’s wood chips as a litter box, causing sanitation problems for children who play there during recess.

Several incidents have been reported where children need to clean their shoes or even change clothes after recess due to the mess.
In response, local resident Sally Stewart volunteered to address the issue by setting out humane cat traps on December 8.
The town estimates there are 7 to 10 stray cats in the area.
Stewart has arranged for the captured cats to be spayed or neutered at a cost of $20 each.
Community members who wish to support this effort are encouraged to drop off donations at Burnsville Town Hall. All funds will go directly to cover the cost of the procedures.
Residents with pet cats are reminded to secure them on December 8 to prevent accidental trapping.
