Buckhannon – The Beckley boys soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to nine games Tuesday night with a 2-nil road win at Buckhannon-Upshur.
Tyler Snyder scored on a penalty kick in the first half, while Ayden Stafford scored on an assist from Vince Umberger in the second half for the final margin.
Beckley keeper Bryson Doss recorded his sixth straight clean sheet and the Flying Eagles had 22 shots with 11 on frame.
Thursday night at Paul Cline Stadium Beckley (6-1-2) battles the Class AAA defending state champions, Greenbrier East in a key sectional showdown.
PikeView 5, Mercer Christian 2
Gardner – The Panthers scored two goals in the first six minutes Tuesday and never trailed in a 5-2 win over Mercer Christian.
Nate Cook scored a pair of goals for PikeView, while Bryson Bailey Matt Murphy and Michael O’Sullivan had one goal each.
Murphy and Cook both had one assist for the Panthers who host Nicholas County Thursday.
Toby Bailey scored the first goal for the Cavaliers and M.J. Patton added a goal assisted by Eli Patton.
