Charleston – Charleston Catholic shot 46 percent from the field and limited No. 1 Williamstown to 5 of 21 shooting from beyond the arc in a 57-54 upset of the Yellowjackets Friday afternoon in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
With the win the Irish advance to the Class AA title game where they’ll face the winner of Chapmanville-Bluefield.
Jay Allen Turner and Max Wilcox were the catalysts in handing Williamtown its first loss of the season, scoring 20 and 21 points, respectively. Turner finished with a double-double, adding 10 rebounds.
Parker Schramm led Williamstown with 18 points in the loss.
