Charleston – Fairmont Senior out-rebounded Elkins 33-18 and converted on 18 of 23 free throws to beat the Tigers 66-49 Friday evening in the Class AAA semifinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The defending Champion Polar Bears will meet Shady Spring on Saturday at 7:30 in a rematch of last season’s Class AAA title game, one that Senior won on a Zycheus Dobbs buzzer-beater.
Dobbs was stellar Friday, scoring a game-high 24 points, converting on 14 of his 16 free throw attempts while Desean Goode scored 22 points to go along with 16 rebounds.
Elkins, which surged late to cut a 20-point deficit to 13, was led by Malachi Watson’s 20 points.
