BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) — What started as a quiet Sunday evening turned violent in Bluefield when a dispute between two brothers escalated into an assault, leading to an arrest and domestic charges.
On May 4, 2025, officers with the Bluefield Police Department were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on Walters Avenue. Upon arrival, responding officer Ptlm. K.M. Tate Jr. made contact with one of the brothers, who alleged he had been punched in the face during an argument with his sibling.
Inside the home, officers encountered the second brother, who openly admitted to striking his sibling. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over noise, with the suspect claiming he was unable to sleep due to hammering and other disruptions coming from his brother and a nearby family member.
Officers observed visible swelling and a knot on the victim’s face, consistent with the reported assault. A female relative at the scene confirmed the events, telling police she witnessed the strike and feared for her own safety after the suspect allegedly threatened her as well. She immediately called 911.
Following the investigation, officers arrested the suspect on charges of Domestic Battery and Domestic Assault. He was taken to the Bluefield City Police Department for booking and later lodged in the Bluefield City Jail, where he awaits arraignment.
The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
