RONCEVERTE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center is introducing a cutting-edge addition to its orthopedic services: a surgical robot installed in late December. The advanced technology is designed to assist surgeons with precision in a variety of procedures, enhancing patient care.
To celebrate, the medical center is inviting the public to meet the robot and participate in a naming contest. The robot will be on display in the hospital cafeteria, located at 1320 Maplewood Avenue, on Wednesday, January 8, from 3 to 4 p.m. The winning name will be announced on January 15.
State-of-the-Art Technology
The robot boasts the latest advancements in surgical technology, including:
•A smart mapping system to create 3D models of joints during surgery
•Real-time planning for personalized procedures
•Handheld precision milling
•Intra-operative gap balancing for improved surgical outcomes
This technology will be used to perform hip, knee, and shoulder replacements, as well as hand surgeries, benefiting patients of all ages.
Meet the Surgeon
The robot will be operated by Dr. Douglas Tice, a new addition to CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. Dr. Tice is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who completed his residency at West Virginia University. He brings expertise in a wide range of procedures and looks forward to using the robot to improve patient care.
